There’s hardly ever been one that worked as promised. As the guy said, Life ain’t no easy gig. You gotta find the beat.

Life is a jigsaw puzzle with no picture on the box. You have all the pieces. Now, make something out of it.

My degree is in Engineering Management – Holy Crap! That’s what I did for most of my career.

A graduate degree in cartography.

Yes you will have a lot of jobs, be laid off a dozen times, struggle to find work after 50, most of the jobs will suck, most of your bosses will suck, there will be good places to eat lunch and bad places to eat lunch

Interesting take on this generation. We sat down with our boys when they were in grade 10 and talked at length about what they wanted to do with their lives. The oldest went to uni and wasted 2 years of his life and a great deal of money to find out he liked to cook. We knew that in grade 10. He is a chef now. The youngest was mechanically inclined and went to college to get his marine mechanic cert. Got that and was hired right out of school and has been there 10 years. Turns out he is a better salesman (like his grandad) and is doing well.

And there you have a college graduate thought by liberal professors!

When you graduate is not the right time to look for career direction. Should have done that before you went thousands of dollars in debt. But, like a lot of people, he doesn’t look for directions until he’s already on a trip and lost.

And you’ll be just as lost.
