Nice racquet from the 1950’s.

I quit smoking in 1976 after smoking since 1954, but I still get winded now. Being 80 couldn’t have anything to do with it, could it?

Wouldn’t it be ironic if some future scientific study showed that smoking weeded out the weak and made the human race evolve stronger and smarter? I’ll think on it over a cigar and a cup of coffee.

I think that at the time this was originally drawn there were some class-action suits involving tennis, so Trudeau was taking a little satiric lob into that court, as well.

Worked with a guy who smoked a pack a day, who still claimed to be a great athlete (and that his smoking had no adverse effects)… after lunch, he couldn’t climb up two flights of stairs to our offices – had to wait for the elevator…

Mercer County NJ used to have an annual tennis tournament called the “Stone Age Open.” Mostly wooden racquets but I think the Wilson T-2000 steel racquet was allowed.
