It is going to take a lot of “big government” to fix all of the evils that Trump and company left behind,

I guess Ariail is amorally opposed to the government doing anything for anyone who isn’t a corporation.

I could get behind a smaller government if it was accompanied by a system that protected everybody’s rights, prevented abuse by the privileged and saw to the conservation of the nations resources. But y’know what? I can’t see how to make that happen. Can you?

We had four years of infrastructure falling apart. No real plan at the border. Tearing down the global partnerships we had. There will be a lot of work to do. The only thing trump did is embolden the racists that came out of the wood work, when they couldn’t handle a black president.

Since the government is the people, big government means big people, as in great people, as opposed to just big business.

Sounds like the former twice impeached President has a way to now resume spewing messages to his gullible followers. It has this message: “However, the new platform does not appear to have a feature to allow users to reply or engage with any of his posts.”

Typical LOSER. Wouldn’t want to hear what the vast majority of America thinks of him.

Why the masses do not see the advantages to austerity for the middle class, tax relief for the wealthy, and special opportunities for undereducated white males, is very difficult for Trump supporters to understand.

The second part of that sentence is "but we cannot go back to the time when our citizens were left to fend for themselves”.

Welfare “reform” TANF, may have provided Repubs with their beloved “cutting costs” but it was at the expense of those in need. Repubs used this “savings” for another of their favorites – corporate welfare. These changes are a huge part of income inequality and have limited the ability of people to get out of poverty. Repubs want to do the same things to Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security. Plus they want to eliminate regulations that they complain as part of “big government” that amp up the destruction of the environment.

The true problem with big government is states failing to handle problems on their own, them standing back and letting Uncle Sugar handle it. States SAY that they want one thing, but they don’t mean it. Same is true for Republicans.

Clinton was a closet Republican, anyway.

The whole point of government is to provide a system by which all citizens can prosper. Those that oppose are anarchistic outlaws that are out to game the system for their own benefit to the detriment of others. That is certainly the direction in which the GQP has been heading for the past four decades. The only reason it’s still working is because of the deaf and dumb drone mobs that are happy to give them their tax dollars just so it can be stolen from them by the corporations and their political allies. They keep voting these marauders into office.

We have always had big government. We are a big country. And right now, the government has to go especially big in order to fix the nightmarish disasters of the previous administration, not to mention 40+ years of Republican interference with getting anything done. Even when not in power, they have been effective at sabotaging Democratic initiatives — you know, like delivering the mail, keeping people healthy, cleaning the water…

Trickle down economics and taking a meat ax to the U. S. government have destroyed the Middle Class, which made America strong. We need to dump those ideas.

Using public money to benefit the public? How radical.

That is exactly what DJT had face after the Obama/Biden 8 lousy years!

When we have big common problems, it takes big government to work on them. I’m not keen on big government either, but handling a pandemic and rebuilding an economy that it hurt and rebuilding long neglected infrastructure (among others) is not something that individuals can do – and business is not willing do by itself.

Bill Clinton’s Era of Big Government…. was just what he needed to get Repub support for his agenda. But, not all big government is bad. When designed and implemented right, it serves the people that need it most by advancing equality and fairness across the board. Without big government we’ve seen mental health get sidelined so that there are more persons with real mental need that get left untreated.

Slogans often substitute for thinking. Reality usually is too complicated to fit into a slogan. I am opposed to big government in some situations, but I support it in other situations. I don’t want government telling me what religion I should support; I don’t want government telling me what medical procedures I can have; I don’t want government telling me who I can marry. But I do want government to provide a good health insurance system; I do want government to fund a good educational system; I do want government to protect the environment. And so on. You have to look at each situation on its own.

America would run so much better if individual groups like: antifa; Boogaloo Boys; Anarchists; QAnon; Ku Klux Klan; Neo-Nazi; White nationalist; Racist skinheads; Extreme antigovernment movement; Black separatist/nationalist; Neo-Confederate; Christian Identity; Anti-LGBT; Anti-immigrant; Holocaust denial; Male supremacy; Neo-Völkisch; Radical traditional Catholicism had more power.

Ariail, the GOP Leadershit shill, denounces so-called big government without citing a single problem that so-called big government causes or is unable to solve. In other words, all Ariail does is parrot the baseless, unsupported complaints of the GOP Leadershit, of Miserly Moscow Mitch, of Kowardly Kevin McCarthy, of Wacky Lauren Opal Boebert, of Babbling Marjorie Taylor Greene, et al.

They’re ALL incapable of pointing to a single flaw in so-called big government, but they loudly and frequently cite and cling to the false assertions that there’s a pedophilia-based pizza parlor, that an evil cult rules the planet, that Donald Trump is an American Hero, that the Democratic Party has sinister intentions, that “they” want to divided “us,” and that “the patriots are in control.”

Consider: IF “the patriots are in control,” how can a pedophilia-based pizza parlor continue to operate? how can an evil cult continue to rule the planet? how can “they” divide us? and how can the “sinister intentions” of the Democratic Party pose a threat?

Wasn’t Bill a “big government” guy?

The Republican tax cutting mantra “a rising tide lifts all boats” is wrong, unless you just want a bigger, fancier boat and mansion and a gate to keep ‘others’ out. Lifting up from the bottom raises everyones standard of living. The “trickle down theory” equals “ shit rolls down hill”.

So Mr. Ariail, you’d have us believe that political Tonka toys would be just fine to use for cleaning up a full scale train wreck four years in the making, plus years of right-wing ckngressional philosophy of stonewalling and shouting down & over virtually anything & everything that isn’t part and parcel of the GQP diatribe. Interesting concept. Let me know how y’all think that’d work out.

So, your idea of a solution is of course, let private enterprise do it all? For profit? No taxation, no welfare for the disadvantaged? I’m okay Jack and the devil take the hindmost. Get outta town!

So, the era of the corporate state is over…borrow and spend…Reaganomics?

It can be a good bit smaller, if we cut a bunch of military spending.
