“Love” is complicated, to say the least!!

Trying to figure out women is like calculating PI to the last digit. There is no solution, there is no end.

There is no need to figure out Martha. She’s pretty straight forward. She told Michael to his face that she did not like being ignored in favor of cars and Gordon. The real issue is getting Michael to listen to her and to have a real conversation with her instead of saying a few sentences and walking away.

Mike, don’t worry about it. We males have tried to figure out our female counterparts for centuries, but haven’t reached any hard conclusions on how things work with them.;-D

Mike obsesses over what he does not have.

No license, fret, fret, fret, ignore the girl friend.

Have a girl friend, ignore, ignore, ignore, what are the guy’s doing?

Lose girl friend, stalk, obsess, and blather like an idiot…

That’s the point Michael. Figure yourself out through your interactions & reactions to others. ‘What is this about me?’ Self knowledge is the basis of understanding others.

Lynn Johnston is so insightful here. The comments in the first two panels are almost word for word the conversations I had with girls when I was a 16-year-old teen and just gotten my driver’s license! Except that the ‘Well, gotta go’ should be stretched out more with an awkward silence. “Welllll …. gotta go.”

And he didn’t even mention getting his driver’s license.

Michael, 20/20 hindsight is just that, hindsight.

THE WAY TO HANDLE A WOMAN IS TO SIMPLY LOVE HER

He’ll probably hit her car in the parking lot. Coincidence…or something more?!?!

…….. Spoiler Alert…….. ……….. ………… ………. ………. Don’t worry Michael, Lynn already has a childhood sweetheart lined up for you to marry and then dump on….

From what I remember from my teenage years, Mike is no different than most teenage boys. In fact, he was better than I was—I was lucky if I just got the word ‘Hi’ out let alone carry on any type of conversation ! ! Girls scared me ! ! !

It get a LOT worse when you’re in your twenties.

The book on understanding women has never been written and never will be,

The Ames Brothers pretty much answered that question seventy years ago: “You promise to return, when you don’t, I really burn, well, I guess I never learn and I show it”. Some things never change…..

Trying to figure out men isn’t any easier.

You need some discipline, Michael. Start focusing on sports, academics, and an extracurricular program like Scouting. After graduating, join the military.

Remember, girls like successful men.

Just remember, life is not a bowl of cherries but eventually love is a many splendor thing!

Michael, here’s the answer to all your “why?” questions: it’s because Martha is cute. She has a way of affecting you (and others).

Heard a joke the other day. “The reason men don’t understand woman is because woman actually COME with instructions.”

I think he handled it very well for his first post-Martha meeting.

For a teenager, Mike just had a cosmic revelation.

As a woman, I can tell you Michael, that women like to be taken care of. There is no need to understand women after that. A fat wallet has plenty of sex appeal. You will also be in good with mothers of girls. Mothers want their daughter married off to successful men.

And this is where teenagers get the clue that some adults do get them.

Martha’s leaning away posture in panel two shows she is not holding out hopes for a reconciliation.

Cheer up Mike, billions of people have survived being teen aged.

Michael sure ain’t a part of the Greatest Generation.

She’s not worth it, Mike. She shafted you, then got dumped by El Jerko, so she got what she deserved. Just wait for Deanna.

I hope Elizabeth took a bus home and sends Mike into a panic.

I find it best not to over think the mind of a woman. It is like string theory… somewhere, someone understands it… that person, however, is not me. (Thanks for the ‘insight’, BMc)

Believe me if she wants you she will get you but you will never see it coming!
