Man’s most faithful friend indeed. You crooked food thief you! Why, you’d rather have a bear as a pet, hyoomans. (And we could use all that free food too).

Don’t know about dogs, but growing up with cats trained me to keep a close eye on my plate, and to have someone else watch it if I needed to leave the table.

Have another human watch it, of course.

My dogs think the drive through window is the Magic Window. Food appears magically.

Our visitor yesterday thought he would sample wife’s lemon sponge cake. It was in the middle of the dining room table so he had to get creative.

My wife made her very first Angel Food Cake (from a mix) last year and set in on the kitchen counter to cool. When she returned, it had disappeared – not even a crumb could be found. However, there were two dogs with very swollen bellies with little thought captions above their heads which read “I can’t believe we ate the whole thing”. Time to buy another cake mix and make her second Angel Food Cake.

Once, after an exhausting day, we went to bed leaving a chicken carcass on the dining room table. The next morning it was gone, completely consumed by our Siamese cat, bones and all.

When I was a kid my mother made a large number of apple turnovers on July 4th. While we all went out onto our roof to enjoy fireworks our dog ate all the turnovers except for a small corner of one. It was obvious what happened but to be sure we offered our dog the corner not eaten. First and only time I ever saw a dog turn green. LOL The dog soon recovered but never touched another turnover!
