One time we got a tiny kitten named Alexandra. The first time I vacuumed after we picked her up, she didn’t have a clue. I tried to get her to leave the room – so did our older cat – but she was too curious, so I just turned it on with her sitting right next to it. She shot up about 3 feet into the air and ran out of the room. However, the second I turned it back off, with a “fierce cry” (as fierce as a 8-week-old kitten can sound) she ran back into the room, pounced on the vacuum cleaner, and proceeded to try to kill it. To the end of her days, every time we opened the closet where we kept the vacuum – even if it was just to get a jacket – she would attack it.

I think I would be scared of a vacuum that could channel Clint Eastwood’s “Dirty Harry”! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Xjr2hnOHiM

If vacuum cleaners can write, I’d better start showing them much more respect. I wonder if the uprights are smarter than the cannisters, or vice versa?

Our last dog did not like the vacuum cleaner, but the tooth marks on it suggest he wasn’t exactly scared of it, either.

Does a vacuum cleaner really clean vacuums? If not, why do we call it that? Why would we need a vacuum cleaned? Isn’t a vacuum kind of empty? I’m so confused.
