“We’ll buy your home for cash sometimes within 24 hours. Call us for an offer. No title search sometimes, no escrow, no closing costs, no realtor fees, leave everything and just move out "
End result of this is now people earning <$40k/year (and for many that’s per household, often even less than that) are paying $1,200+/month on rent for a 1 bdrm apartment or even a studio around here. That’s up over $200/month in less than 2 years. And then there’s the out of state (and out of country) slum lords. Plus quite a few large businesses and colleges buying up everything they can – a lot of whom pay very little in taxes. Wages sure haven’t gone up that much but unemployment sure has. This summer ought to be very interesting. And this area is just one of many. Some massive reasons have been Rumpy & his Insane Clowns doing nothing about the pandemic and letting the deficit get massively out of control while also letting small businesses and the infrastructure rot. Cui bono is a good question, eh?
I am putting my late brother’s house on the market next week. Fingers crossed it will be a fast sale for his estate, but the low inventory has driven up prices to an incredible level. In our case, the appraised value rose by more than 100K in the last year, but if a bidding war happens, who knows.
Housing bubbles…..making housing affordable only for the wealthy. And the political solution? Why, they tell us to be pleased that your property is increasing in value. Housing is a basic human right, not a means to increase one’s wealth.

Is the Old Lady looking for a wider size or is she downsizing because the nest is starting to empty?

If that “old woman” happens to be Candice Bergman, I’m not surprised that she’s getting offers, if you know what I mean.

Makes no sense. She’ll have to spend whatever she gets and then some for another shoe.
