One story gets made into a period drama movie. The other is no more than a Tik Tok drama, period.

I’ve never had a real problem in my life. My family hasn’t been murdered, imprisoned, or kidnapped, I always have enough to eat, and I have a dry place to sleep at night.

I’m reminded of “Women’s Diaries of the Westward Journey,” edited by Lillian Schlissel. Maybe not the exact title or correct spelling of the editor’s name; it’s been well over twenty years, maybe closer to thirty, and I no longer own a copy. In any case, a great cartoon!

The Donner’s Party trip is harrowing. There is a book about the doll the little girl managed to keep with her the entire trip. Looking back, it seems every decision they made was the wrong one. Any change would have kept them from disaster. The fatal decision was that last stop. If they had pushed on they would have been going downhill into better climate every inch of the way.

But they stopped. The snow is estimated to have reached 22 feet deep. They ate anything they could including their dead. Harrowing tale but true.

I thought the doll was a "pointer to “Patty’s Doll” on that trip.

How we view our life is all about perspective! This strip points that out, I will try to think about this concept the next time I get p****d off by one of my pet peeves which in the grand scheme of living life are things that I should not let bother me but they somehow get under my skin from time to time.
