You may recoil in horror at the blatant manipulation for personal gain. But it is far better than strapping explosives on them to sink enemy ships. Even if it is for the “Greater Good”.

When I see animal demonstrations I often think that we are the dumbest specie on the planet. Why is it that nearly every member of every other species is able to understand us, and we’re clueless as to what they want?

That isn’t what the dolphin said.

He said he is tired of all the humans coming into the ocean, and peeing because they can’t be bothered to get out and find a proper restroom.

Be careful, if that Dolphin says anything about your “snorkel”, and suggests you check out his blow hole, run. Run, run for your life.

Dr. John Lilly spent years studying dolphins. Although there were some claims that a dolphin had learned to say a few English words, nobody who had not spent six months in close contact with the dolphin could understand it. Lilly later went into researching the mind. He started with isolation experiments, then moved on to LSD studies. It reached the point where he thought extra-terrestrials were trying to kill him and that pretty much ended his professional career.

The smartest animals can be trained to find things. I read a good book (“Molly”) about a dog trained to find missing cats.

The hearing range of dolphins is much, much higher than that of humans. Everything needed for intelligible human speech can be encoded in a audio signal from 60 to about 5000 Hz, which (so far as we can tell) would to a dolphin sound like barely audible deep rumbling.

If Sedgie could learn to speak dolphin, he’d have to find something less exploitative to say if he wanted a conversation to thrive….

Sedgewick looks remarkably like Spider-Man’s Doctor Octopus.
