REPUBLICANS, especially of the TrumpubliQan variety, know that THE AMERICAN PEOPLE DO NOT WANT THEM. Their solution? Instead of trying to find policies that will broaden their appeal to more people, they are trying to STOP PEOPLE FROM VOTING. So far, at least 253 laws have been introduced into various state legislatures, all by Republicans, trying to limit access to voting, especially in ways that target minorities and students.
The right to vote is a right of citizenship that must be allowed to all adult citizens with equality of access (14th Amendment) that cannot be denied or abridged on account of race (15th Amendment), gender (19th Amendment) or age if 18 or over (26th Amendment). And it is a right free of cost — there can be no voting tax assessed (24th Amendment).
While the original Constitution leaves it up to the states to manage the particulars of elections, within Constitutional provisions for federal elections, each of these amendments also includes enabling wording that acts to create an ENUMERATED POWER for the federal government to enact legislation to ensure that those rights are not infringed.
This is an inherent right of citizenship. Period. The burden of proof is NOT on citizens to prove their rights of citizenship (in this case the right to vote; “show your papers!”); the burden of proof would be on anyone challenging the qualifications to vote.
We need to pass HR-1 and the John Lewis Voting Rights Act NOW, to invoke federal authority as enumerated in the respective amendments, to undo these anti-democratic efforts and prohibit them for the future, even if we have to revise the filibuster rules to get it through the senate.
Dictator loving fascist republicans will do everything they can to fix the next election. They will get their noisome candidate into office no matter how few people vote for them.
If these red states vote for repression of voting, what can be done to reverse it, stop it, anything to stop it from happening..?? I am not informed enough to know the laws, but surely after the last successful election, we must not lose these rights…ever again!
And again, they’re far less resembling elephants than they are jellyfish. No spine or brain, slimy, and sting friend or foe who get close to them. There’s no longer anything even closely admirable about the GQP, so stop using the elephant – what did an elephant ever do to you that’s anywhere near as vile as your average republican?
The gun issue, and “they kill babies” two things that win votes for Republicans. Once elected, they get to work on tax breaks for the rich, and eliminating all government regulations. Things that matter to Republicans.
Settling disputes with a bullet instead of a ballot. What could possibly go wrong? Certain South American, Middle Eastern, and Asian countries have employed such a system for centuries, right? /s
Yup.. and that’s not all they are after, let’s not forget abortions, open borders, a minimum wage that feeds you… and heaven forbid, regulations about clean water.
C’mon, even YOU in your massive ignorance (about most things) and habitual dishonesty (about all things) must know that there have been subsidies for “family farmers” (usually agri-businesses) for DECADES, and even YOU must know that the vast majority of those subsidies went to white folks.
Speaking of Montana Swill, one of his fellow trolls mentioned the other day about Swill’s “education.” This brought to mind my paraphrase of a famous cliche’: “Learning what ain’t so ain’t so much educational.”
the republicans only want the white supremists and the red necks to start shooting…they do this every time they lose. They ’ve become the rath of the US!

Republicons are pretty brazen about not wanting everyone to vote, just certain people.
