I’m sure all the teachers, administrators and support staff who have died of Covid, lost family members to it or are dealing with “long haul” symptoms would like to be heard on that topic. Unfortunately, too many of them can’t.
I find it hypocrital that when some scientists (CDC – having been co-opted with trump people less than a month ago) sing the republican song of open, open, open, these anti-science folks suddenly believe in science’s message. Will they start wearing masks over their noses, staying home, and practice social distancing. I doubt it.
We are having a problem in Michigan because teachers are retiring and quitting in large numbers since they feel they are being treated as expendable by people/politicians with the overriding goal of getting kids back to in person education. They want to teach kids, but they don’t want to die for it. It is being projected many districts are going to lack the teachers to actually have in-person classes again. Or they are going to have to stuff so many kids under each teacher that the they won’t be actually following covid protocols to keep risk lower. While I agree in-person is best for kids for a number of reasons, the concerns of teachers…particularly older teachers need to stop being dismissed or trivialized.
Crackpot Bok at it again. The science isn’t saying that at all. But it is saying with proper funding and deliberate planning, the prioritization of vaccinating school staff and supporting local officials with testing and enforcing mask mandates; it’s feasible to ramp up school openings in areas seeing a decline in infections and an increase in vaccination rates. But then again, Conservatives these days don’t comprehend science or facts in general.
Interesting… 37 comments so far and EVERY ONE OF THEM is saying that this comic shows an utter lack of comprehension of what’s going on and how things work. What you are drawing is so blatantly wrong that nobody is agreeing with you this time.
Some CDC scientists have said it will be safe to re-open schools, but only IF all students wear masks, and IF everybody washes their hands frequently, and IF there can be adequate physical distancing, and IF there is adequate ventilation. Lotsa big IFs. The Biden administration is well aware that many, probably most, schools will be unable to meet these conditions, so the reluctance to listen to “the science” is reasonable in this case.

The scientists are urging class attendance? NOW? Com’on, Bok! Where do you get these ideas?

Biden didn’t close the schools. He can’t. He didn’t even try.

Trump may be out of office but it’s still open season using attacks on people’s supposed abilities, race, sex, religion.

This “scientist” should be shouting at governors. I guess Bok didnʻt want to draw 50+ people?
Pat Towey over 3 years ago
This should not be a political issue. All they need to do is vaccinate the teachers.

Bok studies the science of right wing lying.
People are tuning out lying Fox ‘news’, they are now behind CNN and MSNBC in ratings.

Why does Bok still act as if the COVID-19 Denier-in-Chief is still in office!

Odd, Europe’s started closing down their schools again.
Besides, Biden’s already stated he wants schools reopened… safely.

Scientists say it is safe to open schools….but only with the correct safety measures. The very measures Trump refused to acknowledge.

Just another example of Trump Disciples inability to comprehend anything but all or nothing concepts.
