It is SO touching that Trump Disciples like Payne are suddenly concerned about ‘jobs’.
Seriously, the only concern about the oil pipeline for Payne, Lisa, and all the rest, is the handful of jobs that might be created and NOT the bonuses and total compensation of the CEOs of the patriotic multinational oil corporations?
In the United States, more people were employed in solar power last year than in generating electricity through coal, gas and oil energy combined. According to a new report from the U.S. Department of Energy, solar power employed 43 percent of the Electric Power Generation sector’s workforce in 2016, while fossil fuels combined accounted for just 22 percent.
Just under 374,000 people were employed in solar energy, according to the report, while coal, gas and oil power generation combined had a workforce of slightly more than 187,000.
Renewable energy will provide jobs. They may not be the temporary pipe welding jobs which pay well because of a lack of welders, but there will be employment for some time. And there will be employment for transmission line building and maintenance.
Mr. Payne, GM announced today that they are not going to be making fossil fuel cars in 14 years…
General Motors to eliminate gasoline and diesel light-duty cars and SUVs by 2035 https://www.washingtonpost.com/climate-environment/2021/01/28/general-motors-electric/
How many jobs would that pipeline ACTUALLY add to the economy? Less than two dozen. Go ahead and look it up: There’s very little work to do on a functional pipeline. Unless you’re counting the high probability of a spill…
Payne, why do you support a pipeline that crosses the U.S. with all it’s known pollutions, and is only for Canada’s use? Don’t you and your ilk care about the U.S. at all?
Everyone is talking as if we are going to wake up tomorrow morning and have the entire country converted to renewable energy, and a bunch of oil field and coal mine workers standing around with nothing to do. It’s a process. The coal mines and oil fields will have to hire fewer people as we convert to renewable. There will be more jobs in those fields, but the guy who has been in the coal mine for 20 years is probably not going to be a top candidate for those jobs. However, his son or daughter could. I would be willing to pay you $100 for every coal miner who can honestly say that his highest hope for his children was that they would make their livings crawling around in a hole in the ground, getting filthy and risking cave ins, anyway.

Payne probably has money invested in fossil fuels and can’t think of how to get money from clean air.

Especially the ones that pay zero taxes?

Henry loves his gasoline powered vroom-vroom vehicles, so of course he thinks that cutting down on oil use is a bad idea.

Facts, Henry, facts. You’ve been pandering to the tRumplicans so long you no longer understand the concept.
