I see the “D”, probably for Democrat, on one side of the divide, but no “R” on the other, appropriate. There is an oversized scow with a elephant on it, apparently trying to barge through, also appropriate.
Republicans built their “Ship of Fools” in the sub-basement of American politics, thinking they could get it afloat outside in the mainstream without some disassembly and modification?
Mr. Goodwyn, your bio says you “often hit any side deserving of a skewering”, I must be missing your skewers pointed at Republicans…can you have your editor publish them? Thanks.
At least the wall would finally serve a needed purpose. Illegal border crossings had been decreasing each year since 2000, the wall was just another in the Republican bag of tricks to demonize and divide people.
For 4 years, investigating Clinton’s emails was of utmost importance, and those investigations had to continue until something was found to put her in prison, even if it didn’t exist.
Now, in the name of “unity,” Republikkkans insist that we have to move past Trump’s attempts to subvert democracy, insistence on overturning a legitimate election, and incitement of a riotous insurrection against the U.S. government. After all, it’s been 3 weeks, it’s “time to move on.”
This cartoon contains several bits of recognizable imagery and no clear point. Except that the elephant is dumb enough to simply stand and watch while his vessel slams into a wall.
The only people squeezing the Republicans out of some form of ‘unity’, are the Republicans themselves. The entire party needs a room full of mirrors, so it may ’take a bloody, long, hard look at itself’.
What I see is “Unity” controlled by dems; and a very narrow definition at that. Not the type of unity that involves communication and the subsequent understanding of another view. Much less the bipartisanship required to make “unity” work.

There will be no unity with traitors to the Constitution. They must be held accountable for their support of insurrection at the Capitol.

Goodwyn’s cartoons are embarrassingly pathetic.

When you call for Unity with insurrectionists and Traitors what does it say about YOU?
You are taking the side of the people that Murdered a police officer and were franticly searching for politicians while chanting “Hang Mike Pence”

Unity does not mean allowing the losing party to remain in power. If elections were to have no consequences our republic would be worthless.
