    Wow…actually made me do the math. Blondie was first published in 1930 making the strip 91 year old. Assuming that she was 24 at the start of the strip, she’s is indeed 115 years old. Then there’s Gasoline Alley…

    The Katzenjammer Kids began in 1897, and while the last original strip was published in 2006, it is still in Syndication…

    And 115 years ago, Dagwood was a rich & idle playboy*, whose parents hated Blondie because they thought she was was a golddigger.

    *That circle on his chest (OK, I haven’t read that one in close to 50 years, but since it had held on over the previous 65 years as he morphed to middle-class cubicle rat, I’m just assuming it’s still there) is a remnant of those days; it was originally a shirt stud to go with the tux he always wore.
