Actually, he has been actively aiding and abetting. Sometimes even looking over Grinch’s shoulder and making suggestions. Far more active than mere “playing dead”.
As long as it keeps the GOP in power, it’s all ok. Marshall law? No problem. Throw out millions of legally cast votes for Biden? No problem. Have SCOTUS overturn a valid election result? No problem. Except the results as “the voice of that People” and go away, quietly? Problem.
Only four years? Hell, all Disaster Pumpkin did was rip the final shreds of the covers away so everyone could see the festering, pus-laden boils that’ve been there for over half a century. The "R"s have been on a downward trajectory ever since implementing Nixon’s Southern Strategy, and it really picked up a good head of steam under Saint Ronnie. Temporary respite under Bush the Adequate, followed by benign neglect under Bush the Lesser while Darth Cheney kept feeding the monster behind closed doors. If we had real truth in advertising in politics, we’d be calling the "R"s by the name they long aspired to and have now actually earned: Fascist Party of America.
That will be the result. The GOP will defend and assist Trump as long as that is in their best interests. They used him as much as he used them, and they can’t win another national election without the MAGAts support, so they are going to defend him to the death, or until it becomes more beneficial to pretend they never heard of him and disagreed with everything he ever said ( yes, at the same time), whichever comes first.
Chip Roy, Texas Republican Congressman came out for the Constitution over Trumpism. He committed political suicide. I saw some of the hate mail directed at him.
It is 100% true (and it would be more, but, you know, math………) that Li’l Donnie rose to power on the worthless shoulders of worthless people and organizations like Father Coughlin, Rush Limbaugh, the Breitbart BS Blog, the Fox Propaganda Channel, and whoever the hell is the current Grand Azzhole of the Kooky Klan. It is also true that Li’l Donnie, in and of himself, caused more harm to the Republican party than anybody in DECADES. Whether, when the dust has settled (I hear that hanging people causes a lot of dust…) there IS a Republican party, I don’t rightly claim to know. I’d bet my life that Eisenhower and Lincoln weep……
From ‘neo-con’ economics of Reagan and Thatcher to the present, this hasn’t been a recent brew in the making. And with the ‘left’ continuously being conned into ‘moving toward the centre’ over the last forty four years, it’s a cake that’s been baking for some time.

People say that it’s now the Trump party. I say that Trump is just a standard Republican, maskless.

They aren’t dead; they’re just out of the closet. It’s okay to call them the American Fascist Party now.
