Sorry, number two is not an actual illustration of conditions. The truth is, elbow to elbow, side by each. If they would practice social distancing there would not be a problem, and a lot fewer deaths.
State governments are unable to run a deficit. Only the federal government can do that. All we had to do to keep the pandemic at bay was to pay businesses and employees to close up shop for a month or two. That’s some thing that only the federal government could’ve done, and they failed miserably.
I have a question; are the church attendees praying to their god to remove the virus he created, or just to protect them from it? I ask in all seriocity.
These decisions are not based on the morality of the institution, or the necessity of the institution, they are based on the likelihood of the pandemic spreading in the institution.
Why is this so hard to understand. Decisions on stopping the spread of a virus should be based on stopping activities that actually spread that virus. It isn’t complicated. Just because your activity it pious, doesn’t mean it will somehow be less dangerous.
The State of California wants both closed. Two strip clubs in San Diego defied state orders to close. The state sued them and lost. A superior judge felt there was no compelling evidence to support the state’s claim that restaurants help to spread Covid-19. The State will appeal.
Now I don’t what the evidence it that restaurants, churches, ect spread Covid. I know the doctors and scientists feel that they do. The state is just trying to manage this as best they can and hard choices have to be made.
I also know that Southern California, home to most of out Republicans, is driving the current surge in Covid. They just refuse to take it seriously.
What Breen? Are you suggesting church should be held in strip clubs? The only positive would be a definite increase in attendance. Maybe THE ORANGE IDIOT can figure out a way to profit from the concept. Turn Mar-a-LARDO into an all inclusive strip club? Maybe Melania and Ivanka could find jobs there? Suddenly, I feel a little queasy.
At least the strip club pays taxes… so they provide much more benefit to society. Churches take money from the gullible and pay no taxes. The only entity that benefits there are the church leaders.
Besides, praying to a mythical deity is just talking to yourself. Do something constructive instead, try actually helping someone else instead of sending thoughts and prayers.
Makes absolutely no bloody sense. If businesses followed all the rules maybe, but the day businesses follow all the rules, will be the day we no longer need business regulations. And in my opinion, that day will never come as all business is really interested in is making money. Never mind the crocodile tears about ‘our employees’ making money; they would sack those ‘valuable employees’ in a heartbeat if it suited them.
One has more employees than the other. Both individually and in total. But if I were god (that’s highly unlikely, but let’s not go that direction) I’d shut ‘em both down unless they could operate outside with masks and 2-meter distancing. (PS: one of the early US super-spreader events was in a church where the choir wasn’t masked… and WAS infective, as it turned out.)

To be accurate, it was not California, but one judge in California that set this standard, but then Mr trumphole Breen has seldom been accurate.

Psychic spies from China try to steal your mind’s elation
And little girls from Sweden dream of silver screen quotation
And if you want these kind of dreams it’s Californication
It’s the edge of the world and all of Western civilization
The sun may rise in the East at least it’s settled in a final location
It’s understood that Hollywood sells Californication
