I, for one, will never ‘forgive and forget’. The pro-fascist MAGA folk, both elected and not, would have to earn forgiveness, and I don’t see that happening – ever.

I can see that working.. especially, if poked in the right hole.

Over the past 12 years, the Republicans have done their very best to rip this country apart, both spiritually and through the destruction of our Constitutional laws. Their intent is to continue this with the spineless support of Trump’s tantrums, to plans to sabotage every change Biden and his team plan to make. Screw them, they deserve a lot worse than a cactus.

Each turn of the administration adapts to the norms set by the previous one. 2016-2020 removed any facade of comity. President Biden may try to bring some of it back, but it is going to be very hard.

A party that chooses Mitch McConnell as its leader deserves whatever opprobrium it gets.

And yet, Joe Biden is willing to go that extra mile to try and extend an olive branch despite the Republicans putting a knife into Obama’s back for the effort he made over 8 years.

Apparently Varvel is bent out of shape because not a single one of the Trump children has been named by Biden to a cabinet position.

Think back to 2016, when Obama assisted Trump’s transition to the White House. No doubt you dislike Obama, but the guy did the right thing. And he did it well. Like it or not, the truth is Trump was set up well in 2017. All he had to do was keep his stupid mouth shut and let the “swamp” run the show. Hell, he’d have probably been reelected if he could have managed to keep his gob shut.

Biden’s transition is going reasonably well, despite Trump doing everything he can to hinder it. Today they took the first steps toward laying the foundation of a strong Covid response.

Varvel, I respect your conservative beliefs. I have absolutely no respect for your support of Donald Trump and the current GOP led Senate.

Come, come, Gary, you’ve got the wrong party. It’s the Publicans who care more about settling scores than actually governing, and perish forbid that the government should ever do anything but comfort the comfortable and afflict the afflicted.

This is just a variation on “you can’t do that because MY religion forbids it”. The Democrats are perfectly willing to work with the GOP as long as the GOP actually moves off its extreme right position on things… and the GOP is utterly set on NOT moving even a silly millimeter toward reconciliation.

Far better than they deserve. Never forget and never forgive. It is a mistake we made with the confederate traitors and the nazis. And both have stayed thorns in our sides.

So now you want the Democrats to be nice to the obstructionists repubs. Like how Murderous Moscow Mitch and the GOP cooperated with Obama./s Or how the GOP allowed the Rump to break laws and embarrass your country on the world stage. How about when they turned a blind eye when young children were ripped away from their families and locked up. And now your beloved party is refusing to acknowledge that the Democrats have won the presidency because the big baby in the White House is moping.

There are no repubs left who deserve any respect because of their actions and lack of actions. The whole lot of them need to be demoted.

Extend an olive branch to the Party that, under McConnell, refuses to pass a decent stimulus bill, but will give tax cuts to millionaires in a heartbeat?

An eye for an eye leaves everyone blind. Yes, the Republicans have put party before country for the last four year— actually way before that, but that’s not relevant to the current problem. The fact is that they have gotten us into a mess, dismantling the pandemic response team just months before it could have saved us all this trouble.

Getting out of the mess is going to take a huge effort. The more people who are working to help, rather than doing their best to make sure Biden fails so that he doesn’t get credit for cleaning up Trump’s mess, the better off we all are going to be.

Consequently, the nicer we are to the Republicans, the better, because some of them may still have a modicum of good sense and loyalty to the USA instead of the GOP.
