The consistently low number of new cases along with empty ICUs everywhere in the US totally validate this study…

Have any of Payne’s friends or relatives been affected by the virus? Do any of Payne’s friends or relatives wear masks?

Payne is clearly terribly misinformed. The study only found that wearing a mask does not significantly reduce the chance of you catching the virus. The main value of masks, the fact that they reduce the chance of the wearer spreading the virus to someone else, was not explored by the study. And less mask wearers than were present in the study actually complied and wore a mask.

Transmission in Denmark in general is low. So any results of this study are not well applicable in the US. Their new cases per capita are about one-third of what they are in Colorado, my home state.

Even with all these limitations, more non-mask-wearers than mask-wearers got Covid-19. Wear a mask. Always.

More exaggeration by Trumpers desperately trying to prove themselves right. The Danish study did NOT say that masks do not work – it said that masks may not be as effective as hoped, but still did provide benefit. It also admitted that the study was too limited to draw major conclusions.

King5.com/verify says “So yes, the findings from a recent Danish study do suggest that masks provide the wearer with limited protection. But these findings do not suggest masks are useless, nor do they contradict mask guidelines. One of the potential benefits of masks is their ability to reduce the likelihood the wearer spreads virus to others. The study did not research that. But other studies have found masks are having an impact in curbing the spread of COVID-19.”

You lose again, Trumpers. Will you ever get tired of losing?

It never occurs to right wingers that we have 5 times more covid than any other country due to their total lack of policies and politicizing mask wearing. How deadly stupid can you get?

Stop spreading this stupidity. They work in China, Korea and Japan the only reason they haven’t worked here is that morons like you keep telling people that they are a left conspiracy.

What’s really insulting is that it assumes that people can’t think for themselves. It’s the brand of Faux News. People hear what they want to hear.

Oh, guess what: That Danish study was underpowered for the task, and the meta paper that resulted did the math wrong anyway. Imagine that. The statistics showing that masks DO help are much better science.

The level of utter irresponsibility here is appalling. In fact, masks do help, and there are well-conducted studies that prove that. This is approaching the “you can’t yell fire in a theater” freedom of speech trope.

One of the Karens in my family thought she had the WuFlu, but it turned out to be just the regular flu. Unfortunately, my wife forbad me from having fun by pointing out the irony of her catching the flu while insisting everyone mask up. I don’t think my wife wanted to deal with the drama.

Masks work. Flaunting the laws having mass gatherings without masks, unnecessary travel, and all the other things duffus Trump cultists have been doing, don’t work.

“Except that if you read the published paper you find almost the exact opposite.345 The trial is inconclusive rather than negative, and it points to a likely benefit of mask wearing to the wearer—it did not examine the wider potential benefit of reduced spread of infection to others—and this even in a population where mask wearing isn’t mandatory and prevalence of infection is low.”https://doi.org/10.1136/bmj.m4586

    From the study:

Limitation:Inconclusive results, missing data, variable adherence, patient-reported findings on home tests, no blinding, and no assessment of whether masks could decrease disease transmission from mask wearers to others.
