Remember those ‘toons with the calendar that a bazillion days in whichever month they were published? I’m afraid 2020 is going to be like that. Though I do have hopes that we’ll be able to go back to “normal” (sort of) sometime less than a year from now. Maybe.
Now it’s reported that Trump didn’t disclose he had tested positive BEFORE appearing on FOX NEWS with Hannity for an interview. He announced that Hope Hicks had tested positive, but DID NOT DISCLOSE HE HAD ALSO ! This is type of person who some people want still to re-elect ? Who did the test and covered up the results ? How many people were infected ? Tell me he isn’t the worst President ever. Let’s hear FOX and FRIENDS put a spin on this.
Well, not entirely true; you can’t leave, but you can be ejected. Nearly 210,000 were ejected, probably unaware they were just victims of a hoax that would eventually just disappear. Some were ejected just because they were black and unarmed, but highly suspicious.
Some movies are just too scary for some children (and adults). When I was in 6th grade, Mother and her children traveled to Europe on a troop ship to join Dad in occupied Germany. Each day there were three showings a new movie in the dining room. “The Snows of Kilimanjaro” was so frightening to me that I fled the room all three times – 2020 does feel somewhat like that, but so does the last 4 years.
Trump’s plague isn’t going to magically disappear when Biden takes office. It is out of control and we can only wear our masks, stay away from other people and hope for a cure. The way to make a plague disappear is to never let it get out of control in the first place. In 2018, the White House’s National Security Council Directorate for Global Health Security and Biodefense mission was the same as when the Obama administration established it after the Ebola epidemic of 2014: to do everything possible within the vast powers and resources of the U.S. government to prepare for the next disease outbreak and prevent it from becoming an epidemic or pandemic. They set up clinics to do this job in 15 places that were considered “hot spots”- one of them was in the Chinese province where Trump’s plague began. In 2018, Trump’s administration defunded the office, shutting down the clinics. In a health security crisis, speed is essential. The job of a White House pandemics office would have been to get ahead: to accelerate the response, empower experts, anticipate failures, and act quickly and transparently to solve problems. It’s impossible to assess the full impact of the 2018 decision to defund the White House office responsible for this work, but it is quite likely that it would have stopped the pandemic while it was still in China. That makes Trump responsible for deaths not just in America, but world wide. So, don’t vote Blue to control this pandemic. Vote Blue because the next one is coming, and Republicans have given us ample proof that they aren’t good at that sort of thing.

The only way you can leave is to get Covid-19, be in a hurricane, fire, or flood. Or other disasters yet to come.
