It should be a federal felony to rewrite or attempt to eradicate history just because it was unpleasant. That is the way people were taught back then, and disagreeing with a small part of a person’s philosophy is a stupid reason to throw away the rest. Even in the South of the fifties, which I do remember, there were many good and caring people. People’s opinions change over time. My Dad was like Archie Bunker, but I’m not. One thing I will fight, though, is people who use a time of anger and mourning to steal and destroy.

Maybe the pigeons can a way to have revenge.

History will not change, regardless of initial statue purpose and placement but the future can. Up to us ; )

I’ve always felt that a fine layer of pigeon poop added a certain gravitas to those statues.
