I have a picture of “Jaws of Death”, my 85 pound pit bull (gentle as a lamb) lying on my granddaughter when she was 3, reminds me of this.

my one dog just sits and stares at me – if I ignore him sometimes 5 or more minutes – he will jump up on the couch next to me – if I still ignore him he will thrust his head on my lap – if I still ignore him (and I do for up to 15 or 20 minutes) he will thrust his nose right in my face. the other dog just sits and watches until the nose in my face bit. then he will either start barking and nip the first dog to make him back off OR he will jump up on the couch and want my attention also(which makes it somewhat crowded). it’s somewhat amusing until it happens the 4th or 5th time in a day. sometimes, all he wants is a cookie but mostly it’s for me to cover him with his blanket so he can sleep.

If he’s your dog, you can ignore him. For “others” it’s not so easy.

Don’t fight it. Being well liked is attached to many hazards.

I once had a somewhat similar incident with a Great Dane. In my case the dog had her paws on my shoulders and was licking my face. The owner’s response was, “Don’t worry she’s friendly”.
