The pandemic is playing into the hands of the GOP on this one: They’ve been trying to scare people in blue states into not responding, thus helping reduce federal payments to those states. And now they’re cutting the active census process short by a month. If you know of someone who has not responded, I urge you to urge them to themselves and their community the service of giving answers that are true (though perhaps not the whole  truth).

Trump’s definition of “Us” is not the same as the rest of us think it is. Nick knows that, and I think that’s why his “US” is red.

Do politicians in a winner-take-all political system even care if the census is accurate if it suits their needs?

We got our census in the mail, but completed it online. I think it took all of 30 seconds. Quite a few years ago we received the long form, which was really interesting; we enjoyed completing that one.

Door knocking has already been curtailed because of COVFEFE-45. Now the census is being cut off on Sept. 30. Federal funding, Congressional representation, etc. will be affected by an inaccurate census.

If you haven’t done the census, then go online and search it out. The online version is really easy and fast.

Would an accurate census be similar to increased Covid testing? It could inflate the “bad” numbers, right? /s

Isn’t it funny how tides have turned ? Some years ago, Democrats wanted to assess the US population by sampling and statistical analysis as it’s, actually, the most accurate way, but the Republicans objected saying an actual count is what the Constitution says and that’s what will be done.

It’s too bad people can’t be forced to answer the census, it really is.

Yet another indication of America going down the tube.. can’t count its people.. can’t run an election… Justice run amok.. can’t handle a pandemic. Don’t be worrying about climate change.. that’s the least of your worries.

It’s not rocket science. Just complete the form and return it. Or even easier, go online and complete the form.

Why is this so difficult for people in blue cities and states? Red state citizens don’t seem to have any problem following the simple instructions.

But you shouldn’t worry too much. The biggest concern of the Dems is that illegals be counted. I have no idea why. They are not going to be included in the reapportionment. Allocating Districts is based on citizens and legal residents.

Who is included in the apportionment population counts?

The apportionment population count for each of the 50 states includes the state’s total resident population (citizens and non-citizens) plus a count of the overseas federal employees (and dependents) who have that state listed as their home state in their employers’ administrative records.

There will be a court battle. The Administration position is logical and appears to be in keeping with the Constitution and past precedent.

I tried to get on as a census worker, something I could do on the side. I spent months getting the runaround, including being asked to commit to a date for in-person training without even being told where the training site would be. Finally, I was told that “because of COVID” they couldn’t find a training site in my county and so I’d have to drive an hour each way if I wanted to do training. I had to bow out.

I’ve gotten stories from other people who tried to get work with the census, and it was a similar story.
