Stick with “the Washington Football Team” – it fits since it reflects their marketing savvy…

I’m not a Native American, but do find some of the names and logos and usages by sports teams and the military to be respectful and honorable to Native Americans. I think respect and honor was their intent from the start. Not the name ‘Redskins’, that is obviously insulting, but the Washington Football team logo, and the Chicago Blackhawks logo that was recognized as the best in all of sports. I find both to be beautiful, as well as respectful and honorable.

I’d suggest the Washington Franchise meet with Native Americans and find a suitable name to match the high quality of their logo.

However, I think that a Native American opinion outweighs mine on this subject. Marty, how do you feel about the logos?

Leave their name, just change Dallas to the “pale faces.”

Wait. Washington Colonials with Washington as their mascot. Brilliant! LOL!

Instead of the Redskins, they can be the Greenbacks. They’d have to change their color scheme, but George’s face WOULD look good on the helmets.

And the numbers on the uniforms can all be preceded by $…

The ball can be their mascot!

They announced that for this season they’ll be the “Washington Football Team”… presumably while they, their lawyers and their internet folk try to nail down a “better” name.

1: That assumes that there will be a “this season”

2: “Better” is definitely not going to be “a more accurate reflection of their current city”. Me, I’m voting for “The Washington Filibusters”.
