Right wing jackanapes love to harp on the murder rate in Chicago, because it’s Obama’s home town. But the murder rate there, even taking this summer’s spike into account, is far below (like 50% below) that of St Louis, and most years isn’t even the highest in Illinois.

I am a retired teacher. I found that sometimes fathers abuse their children. It is better that they are not there. I agree that loving parents are the best situation for a child, but if that is not the case, we still have to deal with the child and step in to help them in every way we can. That usually means providing, not cutting, social services.

My friends in Cicero tell me that a big part of the problem is gun runners from Indiana. The national news feeds talk up the deaths, but stopped talking about where the guns come from, when Pence became VP.
