Given that West is a trump supporter this is, even by the standards of that group, a most cynical move: His goal is to attempt to syphon off enough of the Black vote to enable his hero to win. I suspect that this ploy will be so transparent as to provoke backlash
I think that Trump knew that most black voters would choose Biden, so he asked West to run so he could pull black voters away. Trump knows that most of his own base would never vote for West, so he wouldn’t lose any votes.
