So would Descartes. “He spits, therefore he is.”

Something very spooky about the timing of this week’s ‘Classic’ choice.

Someday, we’ll all be distant memories. But today, the best we (and education workers) can hope for is socially-distanced reality.

Louis must be an AP student. I didn’t have these thoughts until I was in college, at 2:00 AM, with an “illegal smile”.

Louis finds himself in a Peter Watts novel, where all the beings around him are sapient but not self-aware.

Sounds like a character in a Philip K. Dick novel.

    Or someone suffering from:

Capgras delusion: the belief that (usually) a close relative or spouse has been replaced by an identical-looking impostor.

Fregoli delusion: the belief that various people whom the believer meets are actually the same person in disguise.

Intermetamorphosis: the belief that people in one’s environment swap identities with each other whilst maintaining the same appearance.

    This comes closest:

DEPERSONALIZATION DISORDER: AN OUT OF BODY EXPERIENCE.

“Derealization is associated with depersonalization and it is where a person feels like the objects in his or her environment are changing shape or size, like their surroundings aren’t real or that people are inhuman or automated. Derealization is not a diagnosis in its own right but, rather, is considered part of depersonalization”

No Louis, you are not the only one. No doubt that thought has crossed all of our minds at one time or another. You are perfectly “normal”.
