Trump has not only never read the Constitution, he is incapable of reading it aloud.

Hey, someone remember to put up the “Updated Today” flags on Dana’s comic. Not missing much though, considering that the lack of lockdowns would give vets a lot more neighbors in the cemeteries.

Endangering other people’s lives is NOT a constitutional right. Saying so is a terrible insult to our founding fathers and the men and women who fought to preserve their vision.

Folks, we have the same rights today that we had six months ago.

What many have trouble with is the increased responsibilities.

I suppose having to wait out a hurricane in a shelter or your basement is also a violation of your constitutional rights as well? You were never asked to give up your civli liberties, you were asked to help each other and survive. Put the Flavor-Ade down and back away.

I imagine your founding fathers would agree that Constitutional Rights do not include going out and spreading illness to those who have a constitutional right not to be infected by a careless member of the population.

Mr. Summers, you left out the gigantic tombstone for all the people who did not have to die, if only “we” had kept competent people managing the Pandemic. “we” as in our president and much of the Republican Senate.

The ability to go out and shop, get hair done, buy a beer, go to concerts and games is a privilege not a right. We tend to exaggerate what liberty and pursuit of happiness means for Americans. Both the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution give government (local, state, and federal) regulatory rights to protect Americans; that includes in a public health crisis.

So the Constitution doesn’t state we have the right to live… instead it states that we have the right to recklessly infect others with a potentially deadly disease?

Good thing there weren’t many like Summers around during WWII. I can hear him now. “Damn government is denying my constitutional rights by telling me how much gas I can buy. And I’ll keep my lights on at night if I feel like it. I don’t give a damn about that siren sounding off”.

How many times have we had to listen to this tune? Seatbelts, smoking in public places, motorcycle helmet laws, not driving drunk, not dumping toxic waste in public waterways, not being able to lynch blacks, not being able to rape our wives, or sexually harass our secretaries… I tell you the White Man’s Burden is just becoming unbearable.

I have a constitutional right to own an AK-47. Under certain circumstances I am allowed to fire it randomly, and under certain circumstances I am allowed to carry it in public. Under no circumstances am I allowed to fire it randomly in public. Reckless endangerment of others is not protected by the Constitution.

Dana Summers, what constitutional rights have been lost because of adhering to federal, state, and local guidelines for isolation and safe social practices? Even Dear Leader recommended the shut-down until his friends in industry and commerce came down on him. Then he began to call for opening the country in spite of not meeting his own guidelines for reduced cases. The fact that he and commerce are calling for re-opening does not mean the virus has gone away or even diminished in its spreading.

Those who are urging protest, besides Trump:Thomas Leager, a prominent Wisconsin gun-rights advocate. Matt Batzel, the executive director of the Wisconsin chapter for American Majority, a group that helps conservative candidates get elected;Christian Gomez, research project manager at the John Birch Society; Stephen Moore, a fellow at the conservative Heritage Foundation.Sen. David Perdue, R-Ga.,Koch-backed Americans for Prosperity, (adapt and inovate)Adam Brandon, president of FreedomWorksEconomist Stephen Moore is leading a new coalition to fire up activists nationwide. The conservative Heritage Foundation put forward a five-point re-opening planRep. Andy Biggs, R-Ariz., the chairman of the House Freedom Caucus

The push to revive the economy is being influenced and amplified by a potent alliance of big money business interests, religious freedom conservatives and small-government activists, some with direct dial to Trump. Sen. Pat Toomey, R-Pa., who has shared his views with Trump.

    Michigan Freedom Fund

    Michigan Conservative Coalition

    The Tea Party Patriots

Sheridan is the grassroots vice-chair of the Michigan Republican Party, and said although this wasn’t an official Republican protest, “I’m sure that the party supports this”.

“There were lots of our legislators at the rally,” Sheridan pointed out.

The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research found only 12% of Americans say the measures in place where they live to prevent the spread

Freedom and responsibility are immutably linked. If you set aside a measure of responsibility, inevitably an attendant measure of freedom will go with it. That’s confounded by the fact that responsibility is always, and automatically, picked up by someone else when it’s seen lying around.

Want to maximize your freedom? Maximize your responsibility. Freedom is not freedom FROM responsibility, it is the embracing of it.

As a veteran, I’m tired of being used as a prop in someone’s stupid-ass cartoon. No constitutional right is absolute. They ALL have limitations and constraints.
