That means starting early and continuing to pass is the way you get into the lowest level and worst job in Starfleet. Thirty billion applicants for a yearly intake of one hundred thousand slots in the several years long training program to get a probationary slot for an apprenticeship two year proof of ability in real situations.
The oldest Star Trek fan club – Starfleet the International Star Trek Fan Association, Inc. (www.sfi.org) does offer online courses to its members at Starfleet Academy.
