I suppose the GOP will never stop beating this dead horse. On the history, it is absolutely FALSE that the Democrats are the cause of national debt and overspending; and it is absolutely FALSE that the GOP is the opposite.

What recovered the US from the Great Depression was a willingness to accept enormous debt so as to produce materials for war and to employ people to make them.

The regressives want to pay the rich and ignore everyone else. We are already a welfare state – for the rich!

Where is the money that was going to improve infrastructure? The f*king regressives have done zip. You want people to be able to pay rent? Give them jobs, jobs that will help rebuild this country so that we can go forward as a society. And pay living wages for that.

It’s not like it has not been done before. WPA anyone? Has your restaurant failed? We need to be able to feed workers and the unemployed. Your experience running a business providing food could get you employment. Or even continue your business, subsidized by the government if you feed those on WPA. And because of the social distancing that will continue to be needed for some time, you’ll have to adapt to lower customer density in space and time. That means adjusting your business’s intake of food for the business to a smaller base. Government subsidy can help with that.

When you can again stand on your own, and have fulfilled all obligations, you can try to return to a pre-pandemic kind of business (but that may take a while).

The fact is, it is going to require massive programs that employ people to rebuild the country and not just highways, but pretty much everything. Most people have not been considering that increasing automation will rmean most jobs held by humans will be done by machines. Even some cartoonists.

Now is the time to build the future, not try to rebuild a past that will die anyway. Now is the time to spend on a future for all, not just a few.

Where was your debt consciousness when rolling back taxes on the uber rich and increasing taxes on the poor. It’s nice having a rep like Nancy who is reaching down to the little guy with a hand up for a change. We need our own Robin Hood to fleece the rich to benefit the poor.

Republicans have no problem giving corporations and rich people hundreds of Billions of dollars without any oversight. They only balk at providing money to states to protect the jobs of state employees and ordinary workers and their families.

Lying Lisa is at it again. Such hypocrisy, it’s ok for the 1% and big business to receive tax cut windfalls and bailouts, but the common man, the frontline hero and the less fortunate, not so much.

At least some of the American wealth is trickling down to the masses.

So all of those Trump stimulus checks aren’t socialistic spending?

Trump and Repubs give a tax break that benefits large corporations and their companies use that to buy back stock, which is what CEOs said they were going to do BEFORE that vile bill was passed. Then Trump insists that the interest rate be kept artificially low so companies borrow and buy back even more stock. This inflates the stock market based on these buy backs rather than on any solid financial data. Deficit expands and companies have no reserves to fall back on. When these companies get in trouble quickly because of their poor planning, the Repubs bail them out. Lisa applauds.

The Dems want to support people, small businesses and want to help local governments (which end up also helping people with unemployment, etc.). Lisa falsely calls this “endless debt” despite the FACT that people getting the money will actually spend it, which is what will save people’s homes and stimulate the economy.

They know trump is going to lose. Now, suddenly the GOP are deficit hawks again.

That’s rich, coming from a supporter of the debt king. This man was running up the national credit card at an all time record, especially since he inherited an already healthy economy.
