Sure, let’s just ignore the fact that the actions she took actually worked. The Johns Hopkins data shows that Michigan succeeded in flattening the curve which is impressive considering the early models predicted that Detroit would be as bad as New York.

I don’t approve of all the name-calling that often goes on in the comments section. Whatever your perspective on any issue, cartooning and propaganda is art. However, I will point out that, as a result of the stay-at-home orders in Michigan, they had ‘only’ 196 new cases today, as opposed to 1,953 on April 3, at the height of the pandemic, or at least the first wave. So her methods are working for their intended purpose. Like Cuomo, Whitmer is regularly informing her constituents on the progress that is being made, so it does at least seem that she cares about defeating the “invisible enemy”. The real sign of just how much of an authoritarian she is will come when Michigan has had zero cases for two weeks. Or when the vaccine is deployed. At that point, it will be safe to completely reopen the economy, and if she really only cares about social distancing, she’ll do it then.

A year from now, when the US has more deaths due to COVID than the rest of the world combined… and people are wondering what happened, Gov Whitmer will be looked at as one of the heroes that tried to stem the tide.

Here in California we have 4 times Michigan’s population and 1/2 the number of Covid-19 deaths. Wonder if it’s because our governor and citizens are respecting what’s needed to tamp down on pandemics? Michigan’s governor seems to be doing the right thing. If only Payne and his ilk would help…
