I believe the worst protests were in a Northern state named Michigan. Not to say I don’t think some other states are being reckless. I fear for our country both open and locked down.
What continues to be one of the most puzzling things about the popularity of the chosen one is how and when did this spoiled rich kid from New York become the choice of so many poor, Southern red necks?
OK, I’ll admit I have visited the south much…. but other than the “hissy fit” and “that dog won’t hunt,” I’ve never heard any of those expressions… a girl and “butter my butt” only reminds me of Last Tango in Paris…..
We have a quote from a famous Swedish writer satin, “He spoke to peasants in a peasant way and to the wise men in Latin”.Is Gibberish really an American tribe?
Hair Groppenfuror speaks to the people who have traditionally had all the breaks due to their race and religion. These folk have been taking it in the shorts economically since Reagan was elected, now they’re being hammered on political, religous, and social fronts. He inflames the xenophobia and racism they’ve zeroed in on as causes for their fall from favored status. They are found all throughout the U.S., not just in the south, but Clay’s point is well made.
‘The Liberal Redneck Manifesto, Draggin’ Dixie Outta The Dark’ by Trae Crowder, Corey Ryan Forrester and Drew Morgan is entertaining as well as illuminating. I am currently reading it, and recommend it. It addresses, among other things, the culture of the south: What it is, and how it came to be. It takes on income inequality and other matters. I dare say it is scholarly. If you are not from the south, and have little acquaintance with the dialect, I hope you will read it focusing on the ideas, rather than the colloquial language. It is the ideas that matter.
As with any group or culture, it is a mistake to stereotype. (I mean no criticism of Mr. Jones’ cartoon. He is skewering the president and the people who support him, and rightfully so.)
Notwithstanding his being a born and bred Yankee elitist with >clutch the pearls!< a Jewish daughter and grandchildren! (Still scratching my head over that. He must really be hot for her if he wants her after her “conversion”.)
I live in California. My federal dollars paid for my Sister in Tennessee Fine Tennessee roads, the Tennessee Valley authority. And she can keep her grits.
There are plenty of people up North and out West who are part of his ignorant white trash base. Not all of us in the South support or can even stand the orange arsehole. The SC county I live in (Charleston) went for Clinton and not Trump. And going with a few Southern sayings… “Trump just thinks the sun comes up to hear him crow” and “he’s as useless as tits on a boar hog.” Well, bless his heart.

I don’t get it. I usually get Jones’s point, but this one passed me like a whisper in the wind.

Didn’t Fat Donny call Southerners stupid yokels when he was feuding with Jeff Sessions?

Bless my pea pickin heart. Beauregard Trump looks more like Col Sanders after he went bobbing for fried chicken while it was still in the fryer.

It was a small group of stupid trump lovers in Michigan. Very embarrassing for the rest of us Michiganders.
