It’s only Trump and company who are “resistant”. They resist anything which is for the common good of this Country’s citizens. Actual scientists are working to find ways to cure those who are sick and to prevent others from getting sick. That is why Trump hates scientists.
If we spent that money on beating the virus, we wouldn’t NEED to spend it to prop up big (and not quite so big) businesses.
PS: To absolutely nobody’s surprise, this administration handed out a lot of big “loans” in the first round to Trump supporters and others who were not “supposed” to get such things. Thereby shutting out $millions of loans to the targeted group. And they’ve also decided that making public the corporation names of the recipients wouldn’t be fair, so they won’t.
I’ll bet Bok thinks it’s cheaper to just inject disinfectant and sit on UV lamps instead of actually trying to find an inoculation that works. Most of the money is going to bail out big business, er, people.
Here’s something I found interesting:
“Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but you need toknow how silly you look if you post some variation of,“Welcome to Socialism … "
You are not seeing Socialism. What you are seeing is one ofthe wealthiest, geographically advantaged, productivecapitalist societies in the world flounder and fail at its mostbasic test. Taking care of its people.
This crisis is not about the virus.
This crisis is about the massive failure of our, “Boomingeconomy,” to survive even modest challenges. It is about themarket dissonance of shortages in stores, even asfarmers/producers destroy unused crops and products. Thiscrisis is about huge corporations needing an emergencybailout within days of the longest Bull Market in our historyending and despite the ability to borrow with zero percentinterest rates.
This crisis is about corporatized healthcare systems beingunable and ill equipped to provide basic healthcare, at thesame time they post record profits. It is about crisisresponse depending on antiquated systems nobodyremembers how to operate.
But most of all, this crisis is a direct result of thepoliticization of every aspect of our society for the benefit ofa privileged few. The vilification of education, science, media, natural rights, rural lifestyles, urban lifestyles, charity, compassion, and virtually everything else for brief politicalgain has gutted our society."
It’s really fortunate that we had a Stable Genius who had the foresight to destroy the pandemic response structure that was in place when he took office.
Otherwise the current pandemic might have caused every bit as much damage as the Ebola outbreak.
.
Oh, well. “I don’t take responsibility for any of it.”
Nothing will make up for the Trump’s shameful disinterest and dishonesy when, early on, he was informed (many times) of the need for action. If he had pulled the country together through incisive and decisive leadership, instead of pulling it apart through the stupidity, arrogance and cowardice that are so much his trademark, he would have saved thousands of lives. And its still not clear how much will be needed to deal with the economic devastation caused by this virus.
Chip, we would all be better off if your hero Trump had paid attention to the daily briefings about Covid-19 in January and February. But the only time Trump pays attention is if someone is praising him.
The allegory is confused, which alas in Bok’s case is nothing new. The appropriated funds have nothing to do with battling the pandemic, which in and of itself is shameful (as is the whole of the administration’s conduct on that point, hitherto). Nor is it “stumulus”. It’s for financial recovery.

When I first glanced at it, I thought it was going to be about money laundering! Looks like currency in a side loading washing machine.

Of course, reckless throwing money around is the fault of Democrats – even when Republicans do it…

The money should have been spent on testing. Testing should have begun in January when Trump admin was getting dire reports of the disease.
90% of the deaths in the USA are because the Trump admin acted too slow.

New Republican Pandemic Project: Making Corporations Immune from Liability
The president* and Mitch McConnell work to indemnify companies whose employees are harmed because they’re forced to return to work prematurely.
