Obama inherited an economic collapse still in freefall from Dubya Bush, and turned it around, tripling the capital investment market and reducing the then-record deficits he inherited by two thirds.

As for not being prepared for COVID-19 (novel coronavirus), it was Obama who successfully saved us from the 2009 H1N1 resurgence of the previous 1918 pandemic (popularly known as the Spanish Flu in 1918 and the Swine Flu in 2009), Ebola and Zika, with no interruptions to the economy, and created the very successful Pandemic Response Unit.

It was Trump who, in his petty jealousy, closed the Pandemic Response Unit in 2018 because it had been created by Obama, and then when he was briefed last December on COVID-19, ignored the warnings, failed to connect the dots (like Bush in advance of 9/11 in 2001), and instead of taking early, aggressive action that could have saved lives and the economy, now we are in a state of economic collapse like what we got from Hoover and Bush and people are dying and survivors are in panic.

Butchered the CDC, just like every other agency that protects the values the United States of America stands for.

Yeah, he let some idiot cut CDC funding and disband the white house pandemic response team. Thanks, Obama!

Just another misogynistic racist xenophobic isolationist president at a time when we needed an intelligent proven accomplished leader that could correctly interpret warnings and take preventive action BEFORE things get to a crisis level. Tell me again why we don’t need to change the incentives for attracting suitable candidates for public office.

The credit for many deaths and a 401K that is worth half its previous value goes to trump and Fox News that for months tried to pass the whole thing off as a hoax.

First, Covid-19 was a hoax, overplayed by the media but nothing to really worry about, just “a cold” or the flu. Now it’s a pandemic, and the state governors should work harder, the economy must be saved, and it’s all the fault of the Chinese. It must be hell being a White House staffer these days, because you just gotta know that the resident regularly flies into a rage and blames everyone around him (but never himself, of course) that all the headlines are about something other than him.

Okay, Obama ruined the ability of the government to respond to pandemics. Why didn’t Trump fix it while he had a chance?

Predicting one of the resident’s campaign claims half a year from now: “I alone was able to reduce the homeless population of the United States by half a million people.” Left unsaid will be the part about having let them all die.

I know that a lot (not necessarily “most”) of the members of the Trump cult are racists, like Trump himself, and he predictably filled his maladministration with racists (take a BOW, Little Stevie Miller!), but one thing is undeniable: with Trump it is neither “petty jealousy” nor policy objectives that drive him to try (desperately) to undo what Obama accomplished. It is that Obama publicly MADE FUN OF TRUMP in public! It is far more personal to Trump than “merely” his (without question) lifelong racism. He, no doubt, would react less strongly if a woman president predecessor had ridiculed him in public, yet very strongly, indeed, because Trump is so very, very weak. And he would react less strongly if a white male predecessor president had ridiculed him—yet again, very strongly, and trying to undo what his critic had accomplished. You can’t really understand Trump without taking into account just how personal (aside from his—once again, no doubt—racism) his crybabying about Obama is. Would Trump have kept in place 20% of what a white male president have accomplished, after said white male ridiculed Trump? And 10% of a woman? He clearly is shooting for 0% as far as Obama’s accomplishments are concerned……..

The guy down near MicroTom says “And actually his economy benefited from preceding mine.” This reminds me of the story about someone new in town who asked the person next to him on the bus where to find a certain address and was told “Oh, that’s easy. Just watch me and get off 3 stops before I do.”

It’s all Obama’s fault. Simple, right?
