    Squirrels also don’t look both ways before crossing the street, which I discovered as I watched one carefully wait for the southbound lanes to clear, then run out to the median. I figured he’d stop there and wait for the northbound lanes to clear so he could finish crossing, but he kept running instead and became an ex-squirrel.

    Squirrels: They can jump from one moving tree branch to another perfectly. But can judge the distance between them and the speed of an oncoming car. Actually, I almost had one run into me while I was on my bike!

    Squirrels are good at jumping out of trees, landing on folded patio umbrellas and sliding down, claws extended, like Errol Flynn with a knife on a ship’s sail. I have the ruined umbrellas as proof.
