It might have been illegal to wear a postal worker’s uniform, but did they abide by that law? I’m sure I’ve seen many a postal worker in uniform in movies before 1967. (“It’s A Wonderful Life” is an early one that comes to mind).
Before being reorganized as the United States Postal Service by Richard Nixon’s administration; The United States Post Office was, under the Post Master General, considered to be a civilian Uniformed Service of the United States Government. Even the mail boxes in that movie and television era were depicted in a different color scheme and with different labeling than what was on the authorized USPO boxes.

The mailman (Mr. Beasley) in the Blondie movies wore a uniform. They were produced in 1938 – 41.
