    This morning my cat came out into the livingroom, eyed a stray ball of yarn (my yarn, not his), sat down next to it and licked his paw, for some reason thinking that he had to display utter and complete ignorance of its presence before batting it all over the room.

    Ah, but I was too quick for him. This is a sign of a ‘senior cat.’
