Well, Kevin must be used to Paul Ryan’s economic planning so he doesn’t recognize actual planning when he sees it.

I am disappointed with this cartoon. Several respected economists have checked her numbers, and they check out. That is, what she has proposed works far better IN REALITY than anything anyone else has proposed so far. Do I expect it to go down exactly as planned? Of course not. It never does. But she actually has a viable plan to address what has become an unsustainable health crisis. Or should we just make Mexico pay for it?

And THIS is worse in the long run then BANKRUPTING the ENTIRE COUNTRY, like the current occupant is doing?

Or Grampaw Reagan’s. Or Bush’s. Or Cheney/W’s. Or Ol’ Punkinhead’s. (Obama gets a partial pass on account of the train wreck his predecessor’s — especially Cheney/W — foisted on him.)

Obviously, Kevin has an affordable health-care plan we all can’t have.

Seriously? Let’s be real, here. Her plan is FAR more realistic than anything the GOP has put forward for DECADES: the whole “let’s cut taxes for the rich and maybe it will trickle down to the poor” nonsense that has been decisively disproven for over thirty years.

While there are legitimate criticisms, if she created a deficit, it will be while taking care of Americans: keeping them healthy, educated, and productive, which will promote a stronger America better able to grow and develop. By contrast, the GOP has been keeping them poor, sick, desperate, and ignorant to be used as tools in their constant corruption, while creating a massive deficit to give money to the rich – including, let us not forget, taking away the Social Security money WE PUT IN to give to rich people or who don’t need it, or to lavish on the Pentagon, which has more resources for our military than the next ten countries put together.

I think that, by accident, Mr. Kallaugher drew a portrait of the medical care system in, oh, say, Switzerland. Or, Germany. Sweden? Finland? Etc. All with better coverage and much lower cost.

Yet another cartoonist who could benefit from some world travel to first world nations and mingle with the natives. Or at least do some reading up on other nation’s health care systems, statistics and costs. Saying universal health care isn’t cost effective only works on people who don’t know about how well it works in other nations.

Apparently KAL hasn’t read Warren’s plans thoroughly, if at all.

Guess we should just ignore her plan and just continue doing what we’ve been doing because it works so well. /s

According to Fortune magazine, healthcare spending in America was $3.65 TRILLION in 2018 (https://fortune.com/2019/02/21/us-health-care-costs-2/). That lines up with the Koch-funded study saying the current “system” will cost $34 TRILLION over 10 years, Since we’re ALREADY spending the money, why no try to get a system that provides better coverage and access for EVERYBODY?

Simple stuff. She is proposing stuffing 10 pounds of crap into a 5 pound bag.

The best possible outcome of her plan, assuming we can fund it, which we can’t, will be on par with the old Soviet healthcare system. Under-supplied, overloaded and heavily rationed.

At this time the number of MD’s and other medical professionals in the US is shrinking, not growing. The cost of education is rising and the financial rewards in that field are shrinking. Like it or not, if a person invests $200k-$300k and 8-10 years of education, it is unrealistic to expect them to then take a wage that leaves them in debt for 20-30 years.

Before you tout the European models, be wary of generalization. A tiny handful of countries have truly exceptional systems. And even the Swiss system is not exactly what most of you think it is. Look at the cost. https://www.expatica.com/ch/healthcare/healthcare-basics/the-swiss-healthcare-system-pros-and-cons-103975/ Most nations in Europe do not get reviews as nice as this one.

Europe has a robust private health care system and private insurance industry. Participation varies from nation to nation based on the underlying govt plan details and per capita income, but the average is upwards of 80%. The gaps in the legendary socialized healthcare system in Europe are substantial, and most in Europe would riot if their governments attempted to nationalize their private coverage.

No politician will ever say this. The US does not have the funding or the resources to support even a Bronze level plan for every citizen (never mind all the immigrants). Not private, not public, not a mix. There will ALWAYS be have-nots. If you study the various 1st world models you will discover that they all have a substantial rationing system in their govt plans. This is offset by VOLUNTARY private insurance.

Or we could have medical care for everyone like a civilized country, dem.

Medical care was not for profit until Reagan changed the rules to help his fiend Kaiser.

Ever since then medical costs have gone up to provide profit for shareholders.

Has anyone seen Mitch McConnell’s budget forecasts? Well, they include another 20 trillion for more tax cuts for the 1%. He’s trying to outspend Warren’s wildest forecasts. Why? If Warren wins the 2020 election the Senate is planing blaming Warren and passing a bill vilifying Warren’s reckless budget proposal.
