As soon as Nelson give Earl’s glasses back, Nelson better lay down for a while so his own vision can get re-adjusted.

I used to let friends put on my glasses because they were so amusing when they couldn’t see out. But as my eyes got worse, I got less pleasure from that. Maybe because I was a little more mature, but probably because I just couldn’t see them without my glasses, so I couldn’t enjoy it so much.

I remember when I was younger and filled out an application that asked if I had a handicap. I said yes I wear glasses. Was then told that was not a handicap. My reply was but I can’t see without the glasses. My brain was thinking so your handicap does not count. Nelson we all hope you have great eyesight for all your life :-)

Way to go Earl, you’re helping speed up Nelson’s path to eyeglasses.

My near-sightedness has gotten to be farsighted. I can see far, but not near. Reading glasses now . . .

Back in the day my friends would try on my glasses. Their reaction was always “Ew, you’re blind”……. Every time, without exception.

There was a scene on M*A*S*H where Colonel Potter and Radar accidentally switched glasses.

Who here has bad enough eyesight that when you first got glasses your reaction was “You mean you can see the leaves on trees?!!!”

My wife’s reaction, upon finally getting new glasses was to look at me and say: " Wow! Your nose really is crooked! "

At 76, I believe that’s how most grandpas are perceived.

Same. I wore glasses for 57 years. Then got cataract surgery. (Canada) For $500. per eye I now have Toriic lenses. The rest of the surgery was covered my our provincial health plan. Better than 20-20 vision. Only need readers for tiny print. So nice to not need the glasses. Hard to get accustomed to them not being there. Lol. I still reach up to remove them when I wash.

I’m extremely nearsighted, and my glasses need to be different strengths from each other in each eye. But when you are nearsighted, Christmas is amazing because of how christmas lights look without glasses on. And they look different with each eye; the lights enlarge and change shape.

This is the ONLY entertaining thing about wearing glasses..along with being eye protection from stuff hitting you in the eye..and my glasses have saved me numerous times from that happening.

I was informed by my optometrist that I would likely never need glasses and now in my late 60s and still able to read fine print; he appears correct in his assessment

I see a disaster coming with him tripping and breaking the glasses. Not good to do this at all.

Poor dog goes through a lot in that living room he needs to get a couple of blankets and a pillow in the corner of the room and get away from those knuckleheads. Got to love this comic!!!

I have reached the point in life where I don’t need a pair of glasses – I need an assortment of glasses.

Normally wear progressive lenses. When I go out on a sunny day, I wear poly-chromatic progressive lenses (change from clear to sunglass and back). On a very sunny day in the car I wear distance sunglasses – kept in the car. I have a pair of rx reading glasses that I keep at my computer as it is the best for using same (and I take them to client to work on laptop). I have a pair of older rx reading glasses that I keep in the kitchen for nightly use on my laptop – as I am now and when I use my sewing machine. I have distance glasses next to the bed or when I watch TV in bed I am looking through the reading part of the progressive lenses.

One night we were in a store and I was waiting at the door for husband to leave. I took off my progressive lens glasses, breathed on them and went to wipe them with my shirt. I suddenly realized that I was holding a lens in my left hand and the frame and other lens in my right hand. Husband does the driving so no problem. But I did realize that if I was out alone either I would have been driving home in the dark with sunglasses on or husband would have had to come with glasses for me – so now there is a spare inexpensive distance pair kept in the car.

Husband and I do 1770s reenacting. I have pair of reproduction frames with clear lenses and one with sunglass lenses (both distance only). Before I found the repro frames I had glasses made with modern small oval lens, wire frames that I continue to use for the few times we do mid 1800s reenacting. The sunglass pair of these is kept in our van as I don’t like riding in the van (or car or RV) with the tiny repro lens glasses on.

Luckily my vision has been fairly stable and these glasses have been accumulated over more than 2 decades little by little. And I often find myself walking around the house these days with no glasses on.
