Thomas Jefferson and John Adams passed away on the same independence day, July 4th, 1826. James Monroe passed away on July 4th, 1831.

Two days in a row we get word facts. I still remember lethologica as being the word from yesterday.

After his childhood leg surgery for osteomyelitis (then thought as typhoid), Joseph Smith, Jr. had a hirple. (So do salt-water crocodiles — whose habitats are salt-water wetlands — also lose salt through their tongues?)

But when they cry crocodile tears, they would be salty.

He had to hirple

because he broke his curple

and his bruise was purple

Trappers stretch animal hides on a fur pull.

Wha? “Purple Nerple” is not legit?

Roses are red

Violets are purple

And sugar is sweet

Just like maple syrple

At first glance I saw the 3 Stooges.

Adams and Jefferson were friends, then enemies, then friends again. After their respective presidencies, from 1812 on, they struck up a long correspondence, exchanging 158 letters. Adams’s final words were simply, “Thomas Jefferson survives.” Unbeknownst to Adams, in Massachusetts, five hours earlier, Jefferson had passed away in Virginia.

How is limping not awkward? I’m going to replace limping with hirpling.

What about burple, durple, furple, gurple, etc… zurple. Doesn’t say dictionary words.

And what about maple slurple???

I had no idea that hirple and curple were actual words.

They declared their independence from life.

Most people don’t seem to know what Independence Day is, they call it by the date it’s observed.

Two obscure words? Are there any common words that rhyme with “purple”?

Well, it’s a strange way to honor the holiday, but I guess you can’t get much more independent than dying…

I also imagine that the old-timers used to curple their disobedient kids…
