While it may be unintentional, this cartoon is basically saying that Lincoln was a fraud. During a dark time where we need inspirational leaders, this is just adding to the “they all do it” meme that the right likes to spew about politicians to justify their own actions. Very disappointing.
This cartoon appears to imply that President Lincoln was not sincere in his second inaugural address, one of the worlds great speeches. He definitely would have needed the DIPLOMECH when dealing with GEN McClellan, who apparently had no interest in defeating the Confederacy.
Interesting ideas today. I am not 100% sure what to think other than this “Diplomech” needs to be used by a whole bunch of politicians today, I believe. :)
I have to state again… besides the great writing on this comic….. the ART of the drawing style AND the coloration….. both are in my opinion, so wonderfully distinctive and stellar. Even without the dialogue… I will often just come in to see the drawings…. they are for me, absolutely beautiful.
The comedy duo Key and Peele do the opposite of this bit with Jordan Peele doing a spot on impression Obama (seriously if you didn’t see him you’d swear he was Obama) and Kegan-Micheal Key doing Luthor, Obama’s anger interpreter. It’s brilliant and pee in your pants funny.

Give the General a break, he did have the “Slows”, think how it could have been if he had also been in a fog with the “Vapors”!

Lincoln is aware of people having private vs public opinions, yet he says the same words with the machine as he did without.

Panel three: Has ANY Republican in office today even read those words, much less understand them?

Words, words, words. If all you give us is words, then how may we achieve deeds of wisdom?

LOL! That was great Brian!
I guess Abe wants to borrow his (Abe’s) army again…

For the several who think Brian’s cartoon diminishes Lincoln, consider:
There is a difference between saying, “He’s only human, and all humans get angry,”
And, “He’s only human, and all humans are crooks.”
