with his height, any horse is a tall one to him.

Reminds me of the king in “Shrek”. . .wonder if that king was based on this one. . .

Maybe he had a special gantry system built like the ones they used to mount fully armored knights onto their horses. His just had to be tall rather than able to lift a couple hundred pounds of armor plus a knight onto a horse.
