You need special training to do that hold position for any length of time. There had better be a pretty good treat when Sanford gets back.

Aw, why is Cleo so sad on Mardi Gras? Did no one invite her on their float? Cleo, your surroundings are luxurious, but your countenance just makes me feel so sad. I wish I could give you a belly rub and some treats to cheer you up.

The hotel on Boardwalk has aready disappeared. Park Place is next.

It’s Mardi Gras like no other this year.

Cleo sure looks like a sad harlequin. Could be for all sorts of reasons. A socially-distanced Mardi Gras, which is a contradiction in terms. The fate of Sherpa and its denizens. KC Chiefs fan. Though really, you have to suspect she might be a Browns fan.

No sad basset eyes today… even if this year, the floats don’t roll and the Crewes don’t toss golden plastic coins.

Don’t worry, girl.. you have plenty of food at home.

A few (hundred) treats from a Mardi Gras float won’t make that much difference.

We’ll just order another kibble pizza.

 

I’m smiling…. and I don’t get to go to Mardo Gras either, this year, or wear my gown, or put sparklies in my hair…

2019 was the last year I went…

Miss Millie-High-Maintenance and I had a great time!

It will all be back for 2022, I’m sure.

To celebrate we’re having beignets for breakfast, although not as loaded with confectioner’s sugar as at Cafe du Monde. A half inch or more is way beyond what we want (or our waistlines need).

Dinner will be red beans and rice – taking some liberties as we no longer have a local source for tasso (cayenne and other spice coated ham). And our go-to place for house-made andouille (a Cajun sausage) was closed yesterday and there’s a huge snowstorm here so we’re not venturing out today for that.

A couple years ago, we went to NOLA on “Trash” Wednesday – the day after. Room rates were lower AND there wasn’t the crowds. But there were beads and other trash all over the place. Clean up hadn’t yet begun.

A Brown Thrasher brooks no interlopers.

I got nothing this morning. Maybe something will come to me later when i come back.

Cleo looks so sad because she forgot to pack her ballistic missiles.

One question…..is the color scheme of NOLA turquoise and gold? I see those colors in a lot of pictures. Nice.
