No grey areas without compromise, and the parties refuse. Their idea of compromise is, “Let’s do it my way!”

Your palette can include some grey there, but there is a whole spectrum you’re missing.

Nanny-staters vs those who favor individual freedom. Not much room for compromise. The flaw with the American system is that an individual state cannot opt out of any law or regulation, or even withdraw from an intolerable collective. Why shouldn’t California or NYC be allowed to secede?

@Kat: Can you tell me which faith I am supposed to keep? Freedom of Religion necessarily entails Freedom from Religion if faith is a matter of conscience, doesn’t it?

There’s no difference between my beliefs and Kat. I just believe in one less god than she does. Oh, and it’s really interesting that the dichotomy of black and white in this toon shows the right wing Carmen staring into the dark side. Seems apt.

If they were to look at one another, they’d see the range of colors, shades, and details utterly missing from the propaganda (Schwarzweissmalerei in German: black-white painting) they’re staring at.

@kat – It means you cannot use government resources to ram your religion down my throat. You cannot use law to enforce your religious tenets. You cannot create a theocracy. In turn I cannot do the same to you.
