Why is it that periodically the background color drops out to white? As in panel 3.

Somehow streaming on a screen smaller than the first B&W TVs doesn’t seem like progress.

Problem is…..texting has replaced actual talking and meaningful conversation (at least for the younger gen).

I was looking for a replacement for my Pentech flip-phone, LG makes just what I want, but doesn’t sell it in the USA and it isn’t comparable with our carrier.

Most of us here are of A Certain Age. I spent over thirty years in IT – my bunch built the internet that the youngsters mistakenly think they created.

Now we have smart devices and the accompanying changes in behavior by their users.

We of ACA need to keep quiet about this – we don’t live in their world and, honestly, we aren’t equipped to objectively judge what’s going on in there. We’re not them, I do know that there are very subtle (as well as glaringly obvious) things going on. Things most people miss.

I also have a very strong suspicion that there are things in there that we don’t even know that we don’t know – it’s too different a world to ours.

Let’s give it a while and see how it all shakes out – we may say “Ugh, that sucked, I’m glad we outlawed those things!” or it may be that we’re in the process of prototyping Human 2.0 and should keep quiet…

I think we might be de-volving, and are heading back to grunts and screams.

It’s not really replacing anything. What it IS doing is facilitating changes so rapidly that it just seems that way.

Not for me. I use electronics when I want to, but I still spend time outside, talk to people in person, play with pets and do work. Not everyone has an addictive personality.

My take on this is she used the phone to charge the channel on TV. So Arlo’s point is the phone replaced the TV remote.
