Sophie: “Let me clarify. ‘No, Dad is not getting his keys back.’ ‘Yes, you are driving.’ Ambiguous ‘yes’ just lets him interpret your answer any way he wants to. Ambiguous yes is bad. Unless both options benefit us. Then it’s ok.”

Might help to wait until his feet can reach the pedals and and he can at least peek over the steering wheel

As it is, Doug couldn’t be worse than some of the drivers I see out there

A wise person recognizes their inabilities…Sophie’s not absolutely right…but in this case, Yes. BAK!

Yes would have been the answer to both parts of Dad’s question: Yes, he can have the keys, and Yes, he was driving today.

But he can’t reach the gas pedal, Sophie! It’d be a very short drive!

Having Doug and Sophie around gives you TWO very good reasons for leaving your keys in a very safe dog/kid-proof place.

Ah Sophie, are you gonna be in the car when Dougie is drivin’?

As JK1 inferred, another acceptable answer would be: BAK!

I love how Doug has to think about whether he could drive, or not!

& to further add to “I Am Cartoon Lady”, you can see the reasoning behind Doug’s decision to give up the keys in panel 3. So great how a few pen strokes can depict that, Brian.

I had a college professor who would answer “or” questions “yes.” If pressed, he would say “no”.
