WE HAD A TREATY WITH IRAN. It was signed by SEVEN nations of disparate interests: U.K., France, Germany, Russia, China and, of course, the U.S. and Iran.
IT WAS WORKING.
Trump’s own top intelligence, defense and security agency heads — all of whom TRUMP APPOINTED — ALL testified that it was working and that, with unprecedented access for verification, IRAN WAS IN COMPLIANCE. We had successfully STOPPED THEIR NUKE PROGRAM.
Every one of those top agency heads that TRUMP APPOINTED had opposed the treaty up front, but it was working so well that even those advisor cautioned against the U.S. becoming the only nation to drop out of it, violate it, and stand alone AGAINST PEACE.
Prior to the treaty, sanctions were effective because most nations honored them; if we stood alone, and other nations continued to trade with Iran, our singular watered-down pressure would be negligible.
Obama stopped Iran. Now, TRUMP BROKE IT and we are teetering on the brink of a war, in which Trump’s big dollar donors from the “defense contractor” industries of the “military-industrial complex” that [Republican] Eisenhower warned us about will be able to offer our brave young heroes as human sacrifices on the blood-stained altar of their greedy corporate profits.
Apparently, Trump was ten minutes away from starting a war before he blinked.
His boss, Putin, who does a lot of trade with Iran, must have called and ordered his little puppe to back off.
I am quite certain that with enough effort, like any good school ground bully, T rump can goad them into taking the first swing so he can claim self defense. All the while publicly insisting that the USA does not want to start a war with them.
That treaty had more holes in it than CA has homeless people. Anyone who thinks Iran was in compliance must be a trusting soul, and trusting Iran is always a mistake. The treaty does not allow for “anytime, anywhere” inspections as Obama said (or lied) in selling the deal. Without that, you can be sure that Iran has violated the agreement. Nor has the treaty curbed Iran’s support of terrorism.
It’s like Trump doesn’t realize that when somebody unilaterally pulls out of a deal, it means that the other parties to the deal don’t have to follow the terms that YOU insisted on.The US is pulling out of the Deal to force Iran to follow the Deal doesn’t make sense at all.
