Apparently, morality and ethical behavior are not of any use in governing any longer. Winning by any means and self-interest are now all that matters, oaths to protect the Constitution — and the Constitution itself — are now just irrelevant words.
Keeping in mind the scientific fact that 90% of an iceberg is underwater, Wuerker may be hinting that the bulk of Der Trumpf’s worries are still in the waters and are rising to punch more meaningful holes in his Ship of Fools (perhaps the “blub-blub” is not the sound of sinking but rising ice). And since Trumpf doesn’t believe in anything scientific, he’ll probably ignore any re-occurrences of these issues until it is too late to save his orange skin (God/dess willing…).
Even the MAGA-ites down in steerage are cheering him on although a few are starting to jump ship as his policies are starting to hammer their livelihoods and health.
The Trump might possibly survive the incident with the iceberg. However, just as the Titanic continued for hours after fire damage and the iceberg, Trump’s impulsive tweets, words, and behaviors fuels the fire that will help sink the Trump ship.

Trump defends Putin’s claim that democracy is dead with bizarre, confused rant about California
Ahead of the G20 summit in Osaka, Vladimir Putin told the Financial Times that “the liberal idea has become obsolete,” a line that drew sharp rebuke from the democratic world.
But when President Donald Trump was asked about the line by Peter Baker of The New York Times, he didn’t even appear to understand what Putin was talking about, responding with a confused rant about how terrible California is.
Los Angeles and San Francisco, Trump said, are “sad to look at” because they are run by “liberal people”.
Putin, of course, was not talking about “liberal” in the sense of California or the Democratic Party. He was talking about the whole concept of Western, pluralistic, multicultural democracy, and arguing that giving marginalized groups like refugees and LGBTQ persons human rights is dying off.
Even if Trump had understood Putin, it is not clear he wouldn’t agree, given that his administration is rolling back LGBTQ protections, holding asylum seekers in camps with no soap and toothpaste, and broadly pushing to remove federal protections for the democratic process.
Let’s put blame where blame belongs: the GOP. Nixon was brought down because his own party disowned him. Not this GOP. They genuinely don’t care that we have a rapist traitor in office as long as they benefit personally and as a party.
I had the sad experience over a number of years of watching close-up an individual who purported to be a member-in-good-standing of a particular group of which I also was a member but whose behavior in actuality contravened some of the most important beliefs of that group. He had one very obvious unpleasant vulnerability, the kind of thing people can’t help but be aware of but would never speak about. It took years for him to be called to account for his behavior. I came to the conclusion that people gave him a pass for so long because of the unpleasant vulnerability: they didn’t want him to feel picked on. It became apparent to me that he knew this full well and played for all it was worth. I think something like that applies to Donald Trump. He is so blatantly corrupt that people don’t expect him to behave normally. They can’t shame him, embarrass him, or use any of the usual social correctives. He seems impervious because he protects his fragile ego with no compunction about fall-out of any sort. If the legal system goes after his business practices his implosion will be something to see because money is the sum total of Donald Trump.
Mueller et al found no evidence of conspiracy so no jail for that, obviously. There’s nothing in the redacted sentences of the report nor in the supporting materials that will change the result of the investigation. People unfriendly to the President have seen it and if there was anything of consequence there we’d know it by now. Obstruction? Even if the President was indicted on it, obstruction with intent is difficult to prove and by the time the legal battle results in anything, he’d be long gone from office. Much greater odds of a deal being struck which would result in nothing happening to the President. No jail coming his way for obstruction. The rape allegations are just that – allegations. That there have been no formal charges filed with supporting evidence so they remain hearsay. We do not imprison people on hearsay. Nor will the subpoenas land anyone in jail. Not those under subpoena and not the President. There is a defensible position, legally, for the President to resist these efforts from the House so at worst, there is a legal battle brewing but that may not even happen and if it did it wouldn’t result in anyone going to jail. I see comments on treason a lot here. I’m not sure any of them understand what the legal definition of treason is but if they’re hoping that puts the President behind bars, they are way, way off base.
