I would prefer the younger generation to represent us and hopefully rid us of having to deal with the un-American ideals to win elections.

Recently conservative pundit David Brooks made the interesting point that when Bono was trying to get money to fight AIDS in Africa, he went to Senator Jesse Helms (of all people!) Helms was probably for AIDS and against the African people, but the money did materialize and lives were saved. As for working with segregationists (on OTHER issues): politics is the art of the possible, and you have to deal with the other politicians that are actually there, not the ones you wish were. And as for times changing, many (though no means all) Trump voters were fearful and resentful of “changing demographics”—in other words, they were bigots. Would Biden (or anybody else) turn down the votes of bigots who were not actively parading around in their Klan hoodies? This being said, even though I know 110 is the new 90, Biden and Sanders are both past their expiration dates. They should be resources for (much) younger candidates—their views being opposed on so many issues would make listening to them both quite instructive.

Actually the 1% might take heed of this cartoon – just sub the main character. In France it was royalty and the aristocracy, here it may well be the ultra wealthy. Their solution for long term existence is not found in the GOP dogma.

    Four years after the revolution

    And the old king’s execution

    Four years after, remember how

Those courtiers took their final bow

    String up every aristocrat

Out with the priests and let them live on their fat

Fighting all the gentry and fighting every priest

The business man, the bourgeois, the military beast

We’ve got new generals, our leaders are new

They sit and they argue and all that they do

Is sell their own colleagues and ride upon their backs

Or jail them, or break them, or give them all the ax

Screaming in language that no one understand

Of the rights that we grabbed with our own bleeding hands

When we wiped out the bosses and stormed through the wall

Of the prison they told us would outlast us all

    .

I may be being tricked by “perspective”, but Biden’s head will NEVER fit in that basket!

Furthermore, to Godfreydaniel’s point, Biden MAY be past his ‘expiration date – we know Trump “expired” years ago, and Sanders, well, Sanders isn’t EVEN A DEMOCRAT, so why are we even talking about him in the same breath with Biden.

Sanders was prodded to join with the Democratic Party several times during the run-up to the 2016 election and he always either ignored or rejected the suggestion! Personally, as a “card-carrying” democrat, I don’t want a “third-party” person masquerading as a Democrat on my ballot! We have a wide enough selection, this time, that Bernie Sanders IS NOT WANTED OR NEEDED on the Democratic ballot, in my opinion. If you absolutely MUST HAVE a “rock-ribbed” New Englander, go with Warren, for Pete’s sake – at least she’s a registered democrat!

Personally, I would prefer either Harris or Buttigieg – both would bring a refreshing breath of intelligence to the White House – Harris especially, since, as a federal prosecutor she is trained in clear, concise thinking and understands, in a way that the currant White House occupant DOES NOT, that, before you start a “journey” you must envision the ending.

Even Warren is acceptable though I think she’d have a hard time winning against Trump, because he would label her a “Socialist”!

Now, understand, I don’t see the “problem” even if she WAS a “socialist”; from what I’ve seen of the crowds at Trump rallies, a lot of his supporters are ALSO socialists in that they are old enough enjoy the benefits of BOTH Social Security and Medicare, both of which are SOCIALIST PROGRAMS!

civility (sə-ˈvi-lə-tē) noun. code-speak used mostly by politicians and white supremacists to mean “Darkies should keep their mouths shut or we’ll start lynching them again.”
