That’s because the income distribution is highly skewed. Under an un-skewed curve, the median would be about three times higher, which might allow for some ice cream from time to time. 2014 figures. Probably worse now.
We bought some “Birthday Cake” ice cream. Basically, frosting with wax sprinkles. Even my wife’s daughter isn’t interested and she eats powdered sugar by the spoonful. The S’mores limited release was equally disappointing, so no more Fred Meyers specials.

I eat a handful of nuts with 1/2 cup of ice cream almost everyday. I’m doing my part. That and GoComics keep me a happy camper!
