How many of you make eye contact with the guy on the street corner holding a sign? It’s easy to rationalize that he’s scamming people and making $75,000 a year (tax-free) and he should get “honest work” like you and me. This might well be! Or it could also be what it looks like.
In the company of an incessant talker, I just sit and smile pleasantly. The joy of a hearing aide; you can turn it off. And if asked, “Are you listening to me?”, I just smile happily and say, “Not really.” Of course, I can get away with it, because I’m old.
